Hi Roger,
They are hard to see...
The picture below is taken from the left side of the steering column looking up. You can see near the top of the picture a small vertical cylinder. And you can see a slotted hole in a green piece of metal. The screw is on top of the green slotted hole- you loosen the screw and the one on the other side and move the column in or out via that slotted hole. So the screws point down.
