And the other thing you need to think about is the inner drivers and driveshafts. I don't think the splines of the V4 4 speeds match up with the older 3 speeds. The ones I've seen done get rid of the donuts, use the later drive shafts and switch over to disc front brakes. That also probably means going to a newer brake master cylinder. It could be done in a day if you have the parts.
