Thanks for the response; literal moments after posting I discovered Jack's son Mark's website where he continues to sell the old books and lots of parts. Isn't that always how it is :)
Good to hear you like the books, maybe I'll have to bite the bullet and grab that electrics manual too. When I had a bug I probably read through the Compleat Idiot's guide at least three times. Even if some of the info was a bit controversial, it's nice to have something more readable than the service manual so you can sit on the couch and start to built a mental picture of how it all fits together...
