Re: New clutch source? Posted by DSpringer [Email] In Reply to: New clutch source?, Reed R |
Need help with a clutch quandary. I installed a new Skandix clutch in my ’69 96 several years ago and I have since been putting up with a lot of “judder”. I figured it was either a clutch/pressure plate problem or a worn release arm. I ordered a reconditioned release arm from Jack Ashcraft and sent him a used used release bearing I had so he could fit it properly. But I also ordered a diaphragm style clutch kit from Skandix, just in case the problem isn’t with the release arm (haven’t pulled the engine yet). I then sent Jack the larger release bearing that came with the kit, and he said there was no way it would fit in the bell housing. Has anyone else installed the diaphragm style pressure plate, and can the older style, lower profile release bearing be used with that or does it require the wider type release bearing? And will it fit in the bell housing?
