Twice I have used a three armed gear puller to remove the rotor, but I had to bend the metal rotor shield out of the way in order to fit the puller arms behind the rotor. The first time it worked well. The second time, the rotor cracked on me and it was quite exciting. I have heard the best way is to get a two arm puller that attaches to the lug bolts.
