I'm trying to clean up some apparently really loose ends with this conversion I've attempted. I recently put a 80' turbo "b" motor in my '76 99. I had the points distributor and the older style (forgive my detail) fuel distributor as well. The sensor plate is the bigger one. My previous engine never seemed capable of being timed properly and though it cruised smoothly, it "chugged" when the rpms were, I'm guessing, under 2500. I tried everything with that motor and knowing that the thing wasn't in that great of shape anyway, opted to upgrade. I'm now realizing that despite what my good friend the saab shop man insisted, the components that I have on this car are not workable with the engine I put in. I have since replaced the points distributor with an electronic system from a '79 99 and at first, the car smoothed right out and the chugging (yes, changing engines doesn't always repair an engine problem) was reduced but now the timing is once again seeming to skip a few beats here and there. I am pretty sure I will have to change the fuel distributor system as well but is there something I'm blatantly overlooking? I am tired of telling my wife to fight the sonett to get to work and would really love to see this car running properly. I have many parts here but I have found my limit when it comes to figuring out this particular ride. Any suggestions would light my day.
thanks in advance.
