Thanks for all the information. I may need to check and see how far it is to Kansas City from Phoenix. Can you recall the salvage yard? Did they quote you a price?
I know the A/C will drag the car down, but when it's 115 degrees, cool is better than fast!
I replaced the coil, plugs and wires today and it made a world of difference. The cap, rotor, points, and condenser will be in tomorrow so I can complete the tune up.
The car isn't running hot, I'm just trying to stop a problem before it starts. I'm going to flush the radiator this week and have been looking at the electric fan conversion. I was more interested in it initially because I thought it might take a slight load off the engine - keeping in mind the A/C add on desire.
The tail lenses are cracked, but serviceable. The previous owner had sealed them with silicon. Since my primary purpose in getting the car is to drive it rather than show it, this will probably do fine - unless I stumble across some :-).
Thanks for the great info!
