Hey there Saabsters , I just acquired an 89 900 (non turbo) with bosche jetronic FI.sys. With ign switch on there is; no fuel pump running, no voltage at the fuse, no signal voltage to one of the two relays, and no starting of vehicle. When I swapped the two matching relays (located on top of ECU, passenger side, lower sidewall, behind siding) I got the same results, however when I took a jumper from the working relay over to one of the contacts/sockets of the relay that has a problem the fuel pump came to life and the car would start and run. I let the car idle for 15 minutes with occasional revving to3000rpm and never got a check engine light) I have not driven the car but it seems as if it will perform ok with the jumper in place
So my questions are 1. should the fuel pump cycle off when fuel pressure is achieved 2. does the ECU control the relay to fuel pump, is there a fuel pressure switch in the fuel pump circuit that signals ECU and where might that be located. I have no service manual but have basic electrical/mechanical skills. Any replies would be much appreciated and my thanks go out ahead of time. Thanks, Thank you, Gracias, Dank u well etc.
PS any alfa romeo Q's, I can probably handle many parts as well Cheers ......alfamatty
