You probably didn't waste your money on the ignition switch since they fail now and then, Especially if it was the original one in there.
I have seen many NG900 with different electrical problems that was caused by a wire rubbing against the dash frame/body.
One common place is behind the radio and you need to pull the radio and cage out to get a closer look a the bundles of wires.
Do a search on this board and you will find the old posts for help.
It also might be behind the speedo cluster that a wire is touching ground.
It can be very difficult to find the short and care has to be taken when going in there to look. You don't want to disturb the wire harness too much because then you might never find the spot where the short is.
