I upgraded the linkage on my '96 and it was an improvement but it didn't completely fix the problem. Reverse was not popping out but was very difficult to engage, especially if the engine is running. Upgrading the linkage was easier than I thought except for cutting the old section off. A small angle grinder is much better than a hack saw if you can fit it in there. I was afraid of getting into a situation where the new one wouldn't work and I couldn't go back to the old configuration.
The tranny was changed over to Amsoil synthetic at 94k so I don't know what it was like before I bought it. Could this be an issue with a bad motor mount that throws off the alignment? If so, how do I check?
