Probably not as long as you dont beat the hell out of it. I have had a bunch of mods on my 94 SE now at 140k for the last 3-4 years. No trans problems, I never did the chip mods though. Viggen IC helped more than anything. The clutch is the weak link. Still on my original but it is starting to slip a bit, so I just dont drive as hard anymore. My gas mileage remains the same
Doing it again, I would spend my money on freshening up the suspension and putting on better brakes. My car is still peaky (like a 125cc dirt bike) and harder to drive compared to my 00 9-3 SE (46k).
Polished intake pipe - no difference
Viggen IC - best bet, better throttle response
K&N filter - no difference, but I can reuse it, so it pays for itself in the long run
3" pipe on airbox - no difference, noisier
Saab Sport Exhaust - beautiful piece of work, wont rust, but noisy, gets louder with age like a mother in law
Stratmosphere dump valve - waste of money, but looks cool
Dawes device - great fun for the dollar, once you get it set right
