On my particular vehicle, hose sizes are exactly the same, and the AIC valve connections are exactly the same! Trust me, I've looked!

I'm intrigued by your sentence "the IAC has a cast in arrow pointing in the direction of flow, from above throtte plate to below". Correct me if I'm misunderstanding this, but does this mean that the arrowhead should be pointing to the inlet on the TB that is below the throttle plate? So it appears that the correct orientation of this valve is with the tail of the arrow connected to the vacuum line ABOVE the throttle plate, and the arrowhead pointed to the vacuum line connected below the throttle plate.

I'll have to check my car to see if the AIC is connected in the above (hopefully correct) manner.

BTW, 1995 900S, B234 motor, early 1995 manufacture if that makes a difference.

As an asside, my idle is steady, but high (around 1200 rpm).
