My 1995 900 SE v6 has been the best, most trouble free, car I have ever owned. Currently, my car has 183k, and it pretty much runs and looks like a new car. It doesn't smoke or leak any fluids. It also doesn't require any special synthetic oil to keep from sludging up. Everything works as it should except the driverside seat heater.

As Greg said, you need to accept the fact that every 60k you are going to spend $500 on the timing belt, tensioner, water pump, thermostat, plugs, wires, serpintine belt & pulleys gaskets etc. If you're slow like me, you'll also spent 7 hours doing the work. This is even more expensive if you pay someone to do the work. I think a lot of the problems with the v6 stem from the tensioner and pulleys not being replaced with the belt every 60k, and the belt cover being installed inproperly allowing the seal to foul the timing belt. I just replaced mine with the new cover that has an integrated seal that can't fall out.

I should also mention that I've also owned a few 2.3 liter NG900's. One made it up to over 200k when I crashed it, and the other I bought with a bad engine due to sludge. It failed at under 100k. I definately don't think the 2.3 liter motor is any more relaible, and it pales in comparison to the power the v6 has. The ones I've owned have also seemed to leak more and have more nagging problems then my v6.
