Dealer confirmed noise from front end during road test. But when they put the car in the air and ran it, the wheel bearing sounded fine and traced 'a' noise to the transmission. I feel this result may be inaccurate because there are no loads/weight applied to the wheels while running in the air.
My road test:
The low pitched humming/groaning (70 kmh +) is loudest at right turns and low to moderate loudness at straights. The noise is completely gone on left turns at those speeds.
Last night I jacked up the front end and tried to shake the wheel to see if it had play. Hard to tell...but I think it was fine (same as other side, same sound on spin as other side).
Q? I plan on jacking up the front and put on axle stands and run the car to see if the noise is present. Any special precaution I should take?
I plan to take it to an indy for a test drive.
I still suspect it's the wheel bearing.
