Preemptive strike on the water pump...update Posted by Gregg [Email] (#677) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gregg) on Wed, 15 Dec 2004 05:50:46 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Well, Sunday I followed Dean's instructions for water pump R & R and installed a new pump. Everything went as planned. The only troubles I had were gettting my siphon tube into the radaitor. And, on my car (97 900S) the bolts for the power steering pump and water pump are 13 mm not #40 torx. No big deal. I had both at the ready.
While I was in the middle of coolant work I replaced the hose from the expansion tank to the radiator. I had replaced all of the other hoses and t-stat last year. I re-tightened everything and the ole girl runs like a champ now. The job took me about 4 hrs, taking my time and fighting w/ the bottom PS bolt. All in all. I'm sure I could do it faster a second time.
I decided against replacing the heater core hoses because they still looked good. That said. I noticed my PS pump hose from pump to firewall was cracking. Has anyone DIY'd that?
