I'm really starting to look at the alternator as the source. Yesterday parked and sat in the car for ten minutes with the engine off, listening to the radio when it decides to shut off. I knew why it did, so I started to panic. Went to start the car, get just the clicking sound, turned key all the way off and try again, weak starter turn over, but it does the trick, car up and running. So I let it idle for a few minutes just to charge the battery up a bit. Luckily their was juice when I went back to it a few hours later. Drove 20 miles on the interstate back home, so that should have been sufficient to charge the battery up all the way. This morning though, at 9 degrees F, I went to start it, extremely weak turn over, starts, I immediatly turned the steering wheel and that killed the engine, tried to restart it but got an even weaker turn over (was only able to get ~3 turns every 5 seconds). Jump start got it going immediatley. So I'm starting to think something is either up with the alternator (which is putting out 14.55 volts at idle), or the battery (less than 6 months old). I think this morning I'll go get the battery tested just to eliminate that as a cause, otherwise I'm looking at ripping a lot of stuff apart in the cold to get that alternator pulled out.
