If your mechanic finds out it was an installation problem, please DO post it here. The recurring clutch cable replacement is a headache but seems to affect only some cars.
It is either a problem with some after market cables, or some cars, or an installation issue nobody has identified. Usual story is either no problems, or 50-70k on the first cable, and then every few months to a year after that.
I sense people are often made to feel they caused it somehow by dealers and mechanics, with no explanation of how.
I am on my original clutch and cable (96 SET with 97k 50/50 city/hwy miles) and my car is far from perfect or pampered, as evidenced by my list of other repairs.
