If the engine would not start and you then measured 500 ohms, then attempted to start after that and it would not start. I would have a strong suspicion that the CPS is not at fault. The connector for it and the harness wiring looked good? No signs of mice? When CPS failures occur, it is typically an open circuit that disconnects the coil. Typically these are intermittant and occur when hot and reconnect when cooled down. I expect that the thermal stress cycling of the coil connections inside the plastic body is the the cause. A design flaw from combining two things of different expansion rates in a rigid structure.
I think that you stated that you tried to start while the fuel pump was hot wired. If so, that indicates that something is wrong with the pump or something else.
The fuel pump fuse should be hot when cranking. The ECU triggers a relay that feeds power to that fuse. That fuse then energizes the pump and the O2 sensor heater elements. If the fuse does not get powered up while cranking, the CPS, ECU or the relay would be suspect. But if the engine will not start with a hot wired pump, put the relay out of mind for now.
If you hot wire the pump or not, and crank, do you ever smell fuel at the exhaust? Pull a plug and also smell that for fuel. Do you know if there is a spark? If a spark, a small dribble of fuel down the TB might show a spark of life. Plugs now fouled? If the ECU and CPS will not dance, then the ECU will also not trigger the DI or trigger the injectors. Do you ever hear the DI cleaning cycle after turning off the ignition? DI sparks can be seen with plugs in the DI, -with each plug body properly grounded-.
