Yes, I never had any problems when hot. Only cold. Again, in my case I believe the CKP Sensor was not bad, BUT obstructed by fine metal filings. I did need to physically break the sensor to remove it, but should I have gotten it out "clean", I suspect that a swabbing, cleaning of the sensor would have solved my problems. Only speculation, though.
If I were you and I didn't want to drop the $100, I would at least physically remove the sensor, inspect the end of it, and see if it is something simple like I had .... a physically obstructed sensor that may indeed have still been "good" but unable to perform.
