If you plan to keep the car for awhile, and wish to have maximum resale value, Mobil 1 10W30 every 5K miles will do very well. As far as gas goes, the car will run on 87 octane, and you probably won't notice that much of a difference. Out of habit, I have always put the good stuff in my cars, just so I know there is no question. I just bought a '99 9-3, and plan to keep the good stuff in it (if I can afford it). Also, some believe that the higher grade stuff will keep you fuel injection system cleaner over the long haul...more refining means less deposits. The bottom line, in my book anyway, is that if you can afford to keep the car nicely, then why not, you will see a return over the time you keep the car. The longer the time, the better the return.
