pointed it out... I always have (before cars started doing it) put the clutch in on start... Just dangerous not to, unless you (and especially your spouse, S/O, or children) are meticulous about leaving the car in neutral. I left my mother-in-law's Acura (older, no clutch check) in reverse once after driving (I always have done that - even before I had a Saab). She almost smacked her garage door...
It's kind of a six of one, half dozen thing. Since the car has to be turned off and locked into R, I think Saab generally makes the assumption that you will either:
A:Take it out of R
B:Push in the clutch and leave it in R
C:Smack the heck out of whatever is behind you
(most likely B or C)
