Be nice, although an american I have been driving manual transmissions since '69 or so. I certainly didn't expect a starter interlock on the '65 falcon I learned to drive in. But that was a much cruder car.
My 9-3 is much more sophisticated, the rear wiper sweeps once when I back up. If they are willing to put that much effort into making sure I can see when I back up you would think they would be concerned about my accidentally ramming my car into my garage. "I accidentally reversed into a solid object but thanks to the sophisticated wiper controls I was able to see what I hit"
The lack of the starter interlock is not as disturbing as the feeling that SAABs values have changed, I always thought of them as finessing the details, like the interior light on my '74 model 99 being behind the rear view mirror so it didn't shine in your eyes. Come to think of it the interor light on the 9-3 shines in my eyes......
For what it's worth my owner's manual says on page 154 (starting and driving) and page 161 (manual transmission) "To start the engine the clutch pedal must be fully depressed"
