...assuming that was a saleman that told you that and not a Saab tech. Having owned several Saabs over the years, ALL of the turbos run the best with the higest octane available. The higher the octane, the higher the boost (and gas mileage). While driving from PA to Co for the '99 SOC in the (then brand new) Viggen, the performance dropped as the available octane did, In PA I always use 94, but as we went further west, the octane dropped as low as 91.5. On our return trip, "the boost was back!" with our first taste of 93 about half way across the country. Experience the same thing with the SPG when traveling west. I now carry an octane boost product in the trunk when traveling. :)
