Shortly after I bought my 9-3 last year, I stopped off at the local Jiffy Lube to get the required state inspection and emissions test. While checking the turn signals, he asked me why one of the bulbs up front was not coming on with the turn signals. Since the car was still new to me and I did not know about the reverse lights yet, I told him I did not know. He was ready to fail my inspection for those lights not working, when I started the car and moved the shifter out of reverse to neutral. Those lights came on and went off when I went into neutral and he said "Hey! What did you just do? Those lights came on!" Still not realizing what happened, a quick cell phone call to the dealer cleared up the function of those lights on reverse. I viewed it as a safety feature. The Jiffy Lube employee said, "Darndest thing I've ever seen..."

(Needless to say, they don't change my oil. :-)
