Absolutely go for leather. I suspect the loaner cars are pretty well maintained. When I've driven loaners (usually 9-5's), they've been in excellent condition. If a 9-5 is an option (especially if it's low miles, the V6 engine, and not the first year of production), I'd suggest giving very serious consideration to the 9-5 over the 9-3. After I've had a 9-5 as a loaner, I have to remind myself that the main reason I got the 9-3 was to get the convertible. The spaciousness, layout, and interior features (including the climate control system - a big improvement over the base 9-3!) of the 9-5 are compelling. I've found the 9-5 with the V6 engine have lots of performance; the turbo 4 isn't bad, but the V6 is very nice. BY the way, a friend of mine leased a 9-5 loaner from the dealer after I got the convertible two years ago; he advises he's had no problems and that he's still pleased with the car.
Good luck!
