Automatic Door Locks

I had the automatic door locks activated on my car some time ago.
However, when the key is removed, only the driver's door unlocks. Since the convertible does not have a "door lock" button on the inside, the only way to open the passenger door is with the remote fob after removing the key.
The dealer says that is the way it is.
Is there any way to have the automatic locks open both doors when the key is removed? Any web site links to send the service writer to?
Thanx in advance,
gatorcpa
