My 1999 9-3 25k miles service update. Posted by Nick [Email] (#227) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Nick) on Mon, 10 Dec 2001 03:09:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Took in my 9-3 last week to have the heater box replaced, after both knobs were previously replaced, and the manual controls now turn smoothly. For those who have tight controls I'd suggest getting the heater box replaced before your warranty is up... even if the knobs have not broken as it is a matter of time before they will.
That morning the "front light failure" message appeared so I thought I'd just have them replace the bulb. Service rep. informed me that when one headlight bulb goes out they replace both under warranty! Wish I knew that two bulbs ago before I replaced them on my own. The warranty also covers rear lights as well:-)
Also, something odd happened when I pulled up to the service area. A customer waiting outside noticed that my driver's side back left wheel was missing a lug nut! I was amazed and confused as it was on the wheel a few days before when I washed the car and cleaned each wheel. No one has worked on the car since the Saab dealer 5,000 miles ago at the 20k service. No signs of an attempted theft and the other lug nuts were tightly torqued. Service rep. was puzzled as well, but happily notified me that they would replace it and check all the wheels for correct lug nut torque - all were fine. So how did the lug nut come off, where and when? A mystery.
I also used the Christmas/holiday coupon from Saab for a free oil change service. A nice touch by Saab and in my case perfect timing.
So basically I had two days worth of service with a loaner car (2001 9-3) without spending a penny. Very nice. Granted, the heater box problem should've been addressed by Saab's qc engineers, but it's good Saab has a service bulletin for its repair.
Great praise, once again, to Ken and all the staff at Continental Motors in Oceanside, California. They are top notch and the reason why I drive 50 miles, past two other Saab dealers, for service on my 9-3.
If only my 1980 900T still had a warranty...
Regards,
Nick
