Well, Saab has steps of action for this service. First they replace broken knobs and relube the cables - as you know. Then if/when the knobs don't turn and/or break they replace the heater box. Now, what do you think you can do to speed up this process...? Of course, you could also be firm about the fact that this is a known problem and you don't want your knobs to be stuck/broken during winter leaving you unable to defrost your windows and thus a big safety issue.
