at Flight Academy, the instructors very clearly pointed out that no matter how inept any of us were in mishandling the Viggen, no harm could come of it in terms of rollovers unless we clipped a curb or some other inanimate object. I found this to be very true as I did my darndest to get the car to come unglued. We spun the cars like tops and at no time was there ever any concern about rolling. That's just plain nonsense.
Though technically the car does not suffer from"torque steer" it does suffer from the front wheels losing traction alternately under hard acceleration form a standing start, giving the feeling that the car is herky jerky. Car and Driver call it torque steer...whatever.
It is way faster in highway passing situations then the 3 series BMW's ( I believe the new M3 will give it a good run from 50 to 80 mph, but none of the others)
I like the steering feel of the older BMW's much better than the Viggen but I hate the fact that at highway speed you are taching 3500 rpm. My Viggen cruises all day at 80 mph at less than 2900 rpm. It has gobs of torque to spare and can haul a couch and get out of its own way in the winter. Plus...if I use cruise control I get 31-33 mpg at 80 mph. Beat that BMW! The new BMW steering feel is just way over assisted. IMHO
Get what feels right to you and what makes you happy, not what you read from meatheads on the internet (myself included in that category!)
