1. The air filter is a commonly replaced service part. You have the right to use any replacement you want to, just like with oil filters, brakes pads, wiper blades, fuses, etc.
2. The warranty is offered by SAAB, not the dealer, and the dealer doesn't have any right to arbitrarily make up additional rules about the warranty. Read your warranty.
3. I installed a K&N filter in my '00 9-3 at about 12,000 miles. I've since had several warranty claims completed at my dealer, including replacment of the turbo unit.
Don't let these a$$holes jerk you around. Get a K&N, and be sure to put the sticker on the air box so they'll know you did.
