As TG said, you need to be guided by your long term expectations.
Just change the oil soon, because you want to. Don't expect the dealer to do this for free. It has to be your motivation.
Use a synthetic diesel specific engine oil. If Saab does not recommend a full synthetic, go visit the VW dealers and find out what oils they suggest for the TDI diesels which are spec'd for full syntheic.
VW spec's a 5w40. The 5 is for better oil flow during cold starts and the extended warmup times of diesels. The 40 is becuase there is cam wear with 30's.
A full syntheic will require less topping up as these have less losses from volitility.
You can also sonsider a bypass filter but there probably is no room to install one. A good magnetic oil drain plug would be beneficial.
