Yikes!

Come on folks! Give the guys at Saab a chance!! Any car will grow on you with time, and GM has spent tons of money improving this platform. I used to hate the new A4, but the more I see it, the more it grows on me. Change is a scary thing, but we must all adapt! (Though I can't say the same for the new BMW 7 Series though...it's still frightening). You MUST drive it before you can pass judgement...I thought the same thing about the Acura Integra and Honda S2000, for example. One drive, and my outlook changed.

I also converted EVERY car enthusiast friend of mine once they drove my restored Peugeot 405 Mi16 (a total Euro sleeper sedan that was very rare here)...suddenly, they stopped laughing at me once they accelerated to 7000 rpm and powered through their first corner. Amazing how quickly perceptions change...

If you read any European car magazine, you'll see that the new Opel/Vauxhall Vectra has now become the leader in its category in rigidity and ride/handling, beating the Ford Mondeo and Peugeot 406, the two standards in the Euro class. Personally, considering all the bitching I heard about the old Opel/Vauxhall Vectra from the European press, it was STILL a hell of a lot better than just about every GM car that we get here. Only the Catera had any kind of driver appeal...and gee, it's really an Opel/Vauxhall Omega. I've driven all these cars in Europe, and the Catera here (sorry Pontiac and Caddy STS), and I think that this newly upgraded Saab will have a real winner here. Remember, this car has to appeal to a mass European audience too in the class, and the A4, 3 Series and M-B C Class are all sedans and wagons.

I love my 5 door Viggen, but we all admit the chassis can't handle the power. I'm sure this new car with AWD in Aero form will be a total winner.
Saab has kept certain interior nuances very much the same, and I think the dash looks better than the new 3 Series, and a lot more interesting than the C-Class Mercedes.

I'll take an AWD Aero 9-3 wagon...5 doors, power, no torque steer and still the Saabness that I've grown to love.

Just my thoughts...

Cheers,
Paul H.
