Does Shell 93 have ethanol in it? I've had the problem you describe a few times with a variety of cars and it always seemed connected to ethanol-enhanced fuel, high-humidity weather and temps in the 40F range. My understanding is that ethanol can seperate and sink to the bottom of the tank especially at lower but above freezing temps. In turn, ethanol attracts water. So first thing when you start it in the AM after sitting all night, is that you pull in this ethanol/water mix and the car just can't handle that when cold. Once you start it and get the fuel churned up by the recirculation thru the system, it can burn the mix. Don't know if that is right or not, does make a bit of sense; but I always threw in some dry gas and it was OK for a while. Carbed Hondas were real bad for this, but I haven't had as much problem with fuel-injected systems (except Audis in a seaside environment).
