alex, how did the fit and finish hold up on your older passat? what year was it and how many miles? I've heard almost universally that the passat's are "bank vault" solid, fine fit and finish, but what are they like after they've been used fora while?
i;ve got a 9-3 and 9-5, the 9-3 (a 1999) is basically a rattle box, not too bad but more than you would expect. the 9-5 is very solid.
btw..you live in Buffalo? i was born and raised there, left in 1986!
