I just hit my first C/E light in 48k miles and it turned out to be a good thing. Annoying, yes, to have to bring it to the dealer, and then to have to wait 2 days for them to diagnose it (got a nice loaner at least) but the bottom line is, I not only got a new air mass meter but they noticed a slight exhaust leak at the flex pipe and resonator which they replaced for free under warranty. Pretty classy, considering the car is less than 2k from being out of warranty and I had not noticed the leak. Morover, I now know the tech went over every component searching for a lean fuel error. Given that I have done vitually all services by myself (by the book with Saab parts, Mobil 1, etc) they had little reason to be so nice. Highly recommend Portland Saab in Maine, a class act all the way around.
PS- whoever wrote about getting a Volvo instead of a Saab has not been reading the brickboard! Great cars, yes, but more prone to C/E light ups than just about any other on the market right now.
