If you are interested in buying the vehicle, you might take less of a loss by extending the warranty (think saab does this, but there are others who will also - check Edmunds for this) and buying the car at the end of the lease period than you would by trying to buy out of the lease right now. This would allow you to keep driving the Viggen.. (which might be why I like this option the best!), and prevents you from paying a mileage penalty.
dgordon is correct about Saab's financial's leasing strategy as they have been purchasing insurance to protect against the gap between residual and market prices - at least they did with my '99, 9-3 SE. They refused to negotiate at all with me.
I haven't run the numbers, but maybe the strategy is to keep the car for the lease period, buy extended warranty, buy the car and either keep it or sell it. I suspect the early buyout would be ugly while the downside of getting another car would be painful also.
Good Luck!
