The Linear does indeed have a leather steering wheel and shifter boot. And the door inserts are cloth, but it is a much better woven cloth than anything Saab has offered in the past. I think it's the best looking cloth I've ever seen in a car interior. (I know this sounds like hype, but it is very good looking.) And I also think the black plastic looks good. I actually prefer it to the wood.
And yes it all makes sense to me because the Linear is supposed to be the essence of Scandinavian design - minimalist, lacking of decoration. And the Linear is the price leader - leather and wood cost more. The other reason it makes sense is that focuses on the European market and in Europe they will sell many more cars without leather and wood than with. That is why the Linear is the first model out of the factory. Of course the U.S. would have liked to have the Vector or Arc first, but it is normal for any company to take care of the home market first.
