the first few cars. The later ones will have leather on the center armrest and the Arc and Vector will have leather on the armrest and door inserts.
Also remember that Saab engines take time to break-in. These engines are built to very tight tolerances and need some time to loosen up. I'm guessing that the cars you are driving have very low mileage and therefore have very tight engines. Also remember that the Trionic needs to learn the driving style of the driver before it will deliver full power. My new Convertible was a slug for the first 300 miles, but now it feels stronger than my previous SE 5-door. And the Convertible is definitely heavier than the 5-door.
I'm also guessing that the dealers are not putting high octane gas in these cars. Trionic will dial back the boost if low octane gas is used.
All I know is that all of the new 9-3's I've driven with a few hundred miles on them have felt a lot stronger than the ones with very low miles. And as I've said before, when I did a back to back comparison test a the new 9-3 Linear automatic with 1200 miles was dead even with a 2002 9-3 5-door automatic with 7500 miles in 0-60.
And if you look at the numbers the horsepower on the new 175hp engine seems under-rated. The 2001 9-3 185hp engine had 194 lb.ft. of torque and the new engine is rated at 175hp/195 lb.ft. It sure seems like 185hp is closer to the mark. And didn't another post show a dyno test of 195hp? The idea of under-rating the horsepower makes sense if you don't want to steal sales from the 185hp 9-5 Linear? There is a substantial price difference between a 9-3 and a 9-5, so if someone were looking for a bargain on a Saab wouldn't they buy the lower priced 9-3 if it had the same horsepower rating? Noone ever got in trouble for under-rating horsepower, but you sure can have legal problems if you over-rate horsepower. Just ask Ford about the Mustang Cobra and Hyundai about all there cars for the past 10 years.
