sorry to hear about your tires. same problem on my viggen on my 3rd set of tires in a year and half. each time i tried a different brand of tire -top-of-the-line tires only. nothing works. saab execs. will tell you excessive tire wear, rim damage, ailgnment issues are caused by "energy" - no design issues on their part.
However; saab settled a class action over this issue but only for cars with less than 40,000 miles. so if your over 40,000 you are s.o.l. So be sure and to include this ongoing expense in your budget. i have found it won't go away no matter the tire brand or any amount maintenance you do. it was explained to me that it is typical/normal for anyone to have to replace wheels/rims at 40,000 that's how they decided on this mileage threshold with the suit - sounded a bit far fetched to me.
i've been driving for over 30yrs and i have never experienced this type of problem before. it is very frustrating and my unfortunate experience is that saab leadership could care less. Just try calling saab customer service and asking a question about excessive wear on your tires or damage to your rims - they won't even talk to you about it. You have to write a letter to the CEO before they will give you any sort of response - which in my case turned out to be pretty lame.
