I would suggest getting the car totalled if you can. If not, take the $9000 and then part the car out. You should be able to get at least $2000 for the parts that are still good on the car (at least I would think so). You could call up local parts yards and see if they would be willing to buy the car for $2000. My father and I did this with one of his Mercury Sable's that got rear ended by a F-450 Super Duty truck while he was stopped at a red light. He made out pretty well as I recall. I believe it was $4500 in damages, he took the $4500 and sold the car to a body shop for $1500 or $2000 and then bought a similar car for $5000.

Let's face it, you are never going to be happy with the final job that the body shop does. If the roof is warped, that means that the unibody has been damaged, which means that your car will have to go on an EZ liner unibody frame starightener, which isn't cheap.
