I have the Nokian NRW 225/45-17's mounted on 17x8 Borbets. This is not the optimum set-up for real snow. I had them left over from my Audi TT quattro. They had only 5k on them so I figured I would mount them and then get a set of serious snow tires in a 205/55-16 fitment for my '02 Aero. So far, they have been great. I have used Pirelli P210's in that same size on my BMW and Arctic Alpins as well - with similar results. I do miss the quattro though - the TT was unstoppable and a delight to flick off the traction control and enjoy the adrenaline flow of power understeer (cheaper than heroine - and no pesky needles). Now that I have a family, I have relinquished my SUV to the gang so that they have the room and four wheel drive (more expensive than heroine).
In general, they are quiet and handle reasonably well - although I will celebrate the day that the SP9000's go back on...
Cheers,
eric
