The AMSOIL engine flush does not chunk stuff off--it seems to melt it away.
I've not had a single problem since I started selling it many years ago.
Use of the engine flush has reduced complaints about excessive oil consumption after a change to AMSOIL by about 80%.
If you don't flush, go ahead and put the AMSOIL in (still wouldn't put anything heavier than xW-30). Watch for any sudden increase in oil consumption. If you see this, change the filter and top off. The synthetic will clean, just more slowly, and it can fill the filter. Then you will be circulating dirty oil, which doesn't seal as well.
