Engine; The flush procedure is drain one quart of oil. Empty the Amsoil Engine Flush into the oil filler tube (one can), run the engine on high idle for 15-20 minutes (about 1500 rpm) and then drain everything. Exact instructions are on the can.

At this point I was in the same boat as you. The former owner used dino oil and the car had about 52,000 miles on it. I took the extra step of filling up with saab turbo semi-syn, a new filter and took the car for a 30 minute drive. After letting the engine cool for 30 minutes I drained everything and installed a new Amsoil filter (SDF57) and Amsoil Series 2000 0W-30.

I too thought about the 20W50 but after consulting with my rep this quote seemed to make a lot of sense, "As for viscosity I recommend the Series 2000 0W-30 severe service. I am also a Ford Engineer and we have the 800 Hp Roush/Ford NASCARS running the 0W-30. It is not necessarily the viscosity but the chemistry and the heat transfer ability of the oil and lighter viscosity oils transfer heat better. You can use the 20W-50 Racing Oil but it is overkill for a passenger vehicle."

Gearbox; Amsoil Series 2000 SAE 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube is the best choice available. I've used Redline MTL and thats very good lube, but the Amsoil has tested better. Don't forget to thoroughly clean the magnet in the drain plug when you do the change.

I also installed an Amsoil TS88 2-Stage foam air filter with a slightly modified intake on the stock airbox.

My car runs incredibly smooth with this combination of oils and filters. It revs like a two-stroke and mileage has peaked at 37 on the hiway. You're making the best decision possible for the long-term health of your car. I have been using Amsoil for 25 years in all my Saabs. Not to mention the fact that you're supporting an American company rather than a large conglomerate that imports Mid-East oil.
