I currenty drive a 5 speed 01 93 and love driving it, on occasion I do drive an automatic 97 900 SE with an automatic and although there is a world of difference I really don't mind driving the automatic,It is great in rush hour traffic. It is not as fun on the open road but as you said, that isn't a bad thing when you are toning down your lifestyle.
I have driven "stick" my entire life and I see myself becoming an automatic driving Dad in the upcoming years as well (I see an alarming trend in the cars in the stable)...as long as we don't go out and buy Fords I think we will survive and still have some fun...
