I have encountered a serious fault with my three year old SAAB 9-3 SE TDi 2.2. This particular fault has occured twice at the same location.
While driving on the motorway slip road, the engine revolutions increase to over 6000 rpm without any influence from the accelerator pedal or cruise control. Turning off the ignition had no effect. The only way to stop the engine was to force the gear box into reverse gear and let out the cutch, so stalling the engine. A huge cloud of grey smoke belched out from the exhaust causing passing motorists to brake heavily and notify thye fire brigade.
I would be happy to hear from anyone who has had a similar equally disturbing incident or if someone has any ideas as to the cause of my disturbing mechanical problem. In short, what is wrong with my car?
