I tried the "foam" technique posted on this bulletin board, but the ribbon that connects the LCD to the circuit board detached. Be careful this doesn't happen to you! The ribbon is connected by a heat seal connection, which is very delicate. My dealer told me that they couldn't fix it and it would by US$400 to replace the unit. I tried having it fixed at a local computer repair company for $75, but they were unsuccesful. I then contacted Wasyl Zadorozny in Utica, NY who was advertising in tht TSN classifieds. He told me that he's working on a repair/replacement process for the ribbons, but he isn't able to fix the detached/broken ribbons yet. I was wondering (by show of hands) about how common this problem is. I am planning to write a letter to Saab USA. Has anyone had success getting the SID unit replaced out of warranty?
