Glenn, and all other faulty SAAB SID victims,
I think we should write SAAB and insist they address this problem. My SID started to lose a few pixels towards the end of my warranty. I had seen some posts on this issue on this board. I took my 9-3 in for an oil change and asked them to look at the SID. To my very unfortunate surprise the dealer (The Great Britains of Willow Grove PA) told me my warranty was expired by two weeks and I was looking at a $500+ replacement.
I have since tried the repair posted to this board but with limited success. Weather/temperature seems to have an effect on the problem as well. Cold or damp weather seems to cause the problem to get worse. At times I can not read anything on the display. Other times only a few pixels are missing.
Please let me know how I can support getting action on this issue. I love my SAAB but this is definitely a defective component and SAAB needs to realize would be way cheaper to honor a replacement program than to lose customers.
I would be happy to sign a letter with a group of other people having the same problem. Can we also alert Consumer Reports to this problem or other car rating publications?
Sincerely,
James
