I was a certified Apple Developer (APDA) for many years. First mac was in 1984 - a 128K original! Computers don't generally crash because hardware is bad. They crash because software is bad. (Anytime someone blames a problem on a "computer error" that's code for "programmer error" ;o)
When SAAB's have a problem, I'd suspect that means there's a programmer out there who hasn't thought of some eventuality, rather than blame it on hardware. Hardware faults tend to be fairly easy to reproduce, and fairly easy to diagnose. (Not always true, but often.) Software on the other hand, can be based on some extremely obscure set of conditions that have to line up exactly to reproduce the problem.
"Rebooting" clears all the conditions, restores everything back to a clean set of operating variables, and fixes the software issues.
Now, if they follow the Mac logic, you'd have to use an intricate series of steps to do the reboot. If they follow Wintel's lead, the 2004 will have a reboot button conveniently located in the middle of the console, right next to the ignition switch, where you bump it inadvertently as you reach down to insert your key!
