How hard do you drive your 9-3??

I am really an alright driver. My story begins little over 2 years ago when I bought a new 2000 9-3. I loved the car and treated it well, but at 30k blew an engine. Supposedly due to a computer problem causing it to run lean. After 4 months I got the car back, I drove it for about 8 months and decided to sell it.

So 6 weeks ago, I purchased a 99 Viggen with 22k. It has been an incredible car, until Friday evening when I was accelerating onto the freeway--up to 5000 rpms and 3/4's of the way through the yellow boost in 3rd and 4th gears--and all of a sudden the gas pedal gets mushy. Low and behold, I am spewing white smoke when on the gas. So I pull off and call roadside assistance. While on the phone I open the hood and there is oil everywhere! So I am assuming it the head gasket and/or other seals.

My understanding is that these are supposed to be performance cars and able to handled being driven that way. My brother has a VW GTI VR6 that he drives much, much harder that I do. Am I really driving too hard and is it the case that Saab's are not able to handle it? How hard to you drive yours?

All input is greatly appreciated as I am at the end of my rope with Saabs!!!
