1) Buying on Ebay - very risky - learned my lesson - almost bought one of ebay, flew 800 miles to get it. It was misrepresented and I walked. I am not sure of the one on ebay that I saw sold was Salavge, but they had a 2002 Red Viggen Coupe that sold for $21K with only 30K miles. It looked a little suspiscous though...but thats a hell of a deal if it had a clear title.

2) Buying CPO from dealer - probably 2nd best bet to purchasing one privately from a Saabnet member. This is what I did on my Viggen and I got a good deal, but the dealer didn't do the flight inspection despite it being a CPO car - that part was a disaster and the dealer fixed most of it, but not all so buyer still beware on a CPO car...don't trust the fact that it is a CPO and look it over very closely to make sure it was done right.

3) Viggen vs. SE - As an aero owner and previous owner of a Viggen there was no SE option for me...The SE is a great value, but the Viggen has a certain fun factor to it thats worth the extra cost. While I don't buy cars as investments I would tend to believe the Viggen (coupes the most) will depreciate much less than the SE - just look at SPGs today that are in good condition - there were far more SPG coupes than Viggen coupes sold. The Viggen 5-door, while not as rare is fairly rare - especially certain colors like Lightening Blue or Yellow. These should have good resale, but limited market. The SEs are a commodity relative to the Viggen and will be priced that way. All that said they are both good cars and it really depends what you want out of it. For me the Viggen is my fun highly funcitonal sports coupe. The SE would make a great car if performance is less the factor and your just looking for good solid transportation with some punch. Another factor is upkeep costs - The Viggens upkeep and replacement parts are more expensive. If this is a factor go SE.

Just some different thoughts to ponder. I would have considered an SE if it was my daily driver commute car, but when your talking a difference of $15K vs $21K I am willing to pay the extra $75/100 a month or so for the Viggen experience. Either way a great car.
